So now that I'm certified I'm talking in court...and messing up. Not too bad. Nothing serious. Just some dumb mistakes. Today there was a guy up for sentencing and the judge suspended his license for a drug conviction (required in Ohio) and then I tried to get the same guy's license case continued to see if he could get a license. But the judge just said he suspended it. I was like ummm...can we just continue it anyway? Thanks. Oy.
Today was fairly unexciting. Except if you ever go to court on PD day, then you know it's busy. Well, I was doing my thing. I walked into the waiting area and I called a name. Then this old guy with a cane stood up and started yelling at me about how he was waiting for over an hour already and blah blah blah. And then he said, if "you can't handle it, you better find another job buddy." WTF? First of all, I'm not running a customer service operation. You're a criminal, you piece of shit. Don't commit crimes if you don't want to wait. Second, there are about 50 other people waiting. It is IMPOSSIBLE for me to get them all done at once. Someone has to wait. It's that simple. Third, hire your own fucking lawyer then. I'm getting $7.50 an hour, when most lawyers would be charging about $200 an hour for your case. $200 and hour means you don't have to wait, and you don't get yelled at by the Public Offender.
I can't stand people like that. I was going to yell, but I would have just lost my cool completely and looked as bad as him. I just told him to sit down and I left. I never saw him again. I think he just left. I hope they issue a bench warrant for him. Normally, I'll yell at people, but this guy seemed crazy and had a cane. I didn't even want to deal with it this morning. If I screamed at him, it would just take longer for everyone else. I should just ignore people. I did "blacklist" the guy. I told everyone I work with to do him last. I never saw him again so that didn't work.
Oh, and there was a guy in court today who played Batman in a direct to video movie. Awesome.
Sylvania seems to be the worst. It's slow. It's busy. People are crazy there. Toledo seems to be a lot less high stress. But people are used to Toledo because they probably have been there 10 times. In Maumee everyone has been nice so far.
One thing is that if you are nice and friendly, we go out of our way to help you. We do everything we can. Kindness goes a long way. Patience goes even further. Slipping a twenty into my coat pocket doesn't hurt. (Ok, the last one was a joke. That's an ethics violation.)
Not much else is new. So You Think You Can Dance is on. I need to start watching that. Also Project Runway is starting again soon! Yay! I hope Daniel Franco is back.
