We didn't start the fire; Coke and Pepsi did.
You can check out Jay's analysis at the J Spot.
The cola wars are outrageous. Their song is "everything you can do I can do better" from the hit musical "Tranny Get Your Gun" or something. Anyway, the next escalation finds middle ground. Both Coke and Pepsi have unleashed low carb and low calorie colas that are somewhere between their regular colas (12.5 calories per ounce) and their diet colas (0 calories per ounce). Both Pepsi Edge and Coca-Cola C2 have 1/2 the sugar and thus half the carbohydrates and calories (6.25 calories per ounce) as the regular soda.
I tried both Pepsi Edge and C2. While I though that both tasted very good, and I didn't even miss the sugar, I liked C2 a lot more. I normally prefer Coke anyway, and I though that C2 was very true to the flavor of Coke Classic, unlike Diet Coke. Pepsi Edge I though tasted more like coke than regular Pepsi. For the calories though I prefer Diet Pepsi though, since it doesn't have a weird bitter flavor like Diet Coke.
So the current preferances for cola are:
Regular: Coca-Cola Classic
Low-Calorie: Coke C2
Diet: Diet Pepsi
Flavored: Cherry Coke
I did think that this guy's comments about the Cola wars were great. I think it's an awesome idea to come out with a Coke Extreme, a high caffeine cola. I even think that's a good name.
