Bathroom Etiquette

Public restrooms are a very unique experience because of the privacy that is normally involved in the activities there. Because of the privacy and awkwarness I believe there should be certain rules. Here are some observations:

* I just walked into the bathroom and there was a man at a urinal. (Fine.) He turned around to see me walk in. (Understandable.) He almost turned his entire body around to look at me. (Whoa Buddy, you better watch it there). Ok, so I'm a little freaked out and not wanting to pee by him, I proceed to the stall. Then the guy turns his entire body in the other direction to see me. (Ok, dude, not really neccessary.) Now, he didn't like turn around completely or anything, but he still turned his torso and watched me. I don't like that.

* Never take off all your clothes to go to the bathroom, in a public restroom. It's creepy.

* Do not talk to me while I'm in the bathroom. It *may* be ok, if I washing my hands and you are too, but when there is stuff happening, there is no conversation. Politely wait, thank you.

* NEVER touch me or shake hands with me in the bathroom, until clearly there has been appropriate hand washing.

* Always wash hands. Now, I'm not a big hand washer. I don't think that it is totally unsanitary to pee and not wash your hands. I always wash my hands though as a courtesy to others. There is too much activity at work where not washing your hands is bad.

* If you ever walk out of a stall and don't wash your hands, I will cut you and then puke.

* I understand why people do their business, advance the paper towel, wash hands, and then tear paper towel. However, if everyone washed their hands, it wouldn't be neccessary. Actually, the people who do the preemptive paper towel maneuver make the paper towel dispenser MORE dirty than it was before. If you're that big a freak, wash your hands normally and Purell them at your desk.

* Under no circumstances should you ever grunt or moan in the bathroom. Never.

* Taking reading materials into a bathroom is scary. Almost as scary as taking 1 dozen eggs, a tent, some cotton swabs while wearing a hard hat with a light on it.

These are just a few things I could think of. It's scary that it's all from personal experience.
