Spring break is half over. Argh. I feel like I've done nothing. I have great plans but all I do is sleep. Sleep is good I guess, but only to a certain extent. I really need to get some stuff done.
On Saturday, I got pancakes. Then I drove to Novi to hang out with Jenn and Beckie. We ate at TGIFriday's. We played a fun game with the waiter called "Gay or Gamer Dork". He was a Gamer Dork. We also saw a Bride and Groom there eating. If I get married, I'll go somewhere nicer than TGIFriday's. There are lots of nice restaurants in Novi, better than TGIF.
Afterwards, we went to 5th Ave Ballroom. It was busy but odd. We didn't get a good vibe so we left. Then we went to Gus O'Malley's which was super fun. Jeff met us there. We got a table by the fire, and we got beer and we listened to a guy w/ guitar doing covers. He wasn't bad. He did a lot of fun covers. He finished one set with "Keeping Your Poop in a Jar". Worst song ever, but very funny. Then the jukebox kicked on and they played Journey, and Bryan Adams, and Laid by James. It was unexpected. Whenever I hear James I'm so excited. I love it. We sang along with Bohemian Rhapsody. We laughed. Then the bar's computer crashed, and lost everyone's tickets, but fortunately we already paid. So we left. All the servers had to add up each table by hand. I felt bad for them.
Then we went to Denny's where the host looked familiar. It turns out it was Jim, a friend of Irene's, who sat at the bottom of the stairs at Necto once. We talked to him. Told him that Irene and Shelly just moved to San Franciso this week. He flipped out. We ate unhealthy food, had a fabulous waitress and then went home.
On Sunday, Jenn and I talked about the Ninja extensively. It was good.
So far this week I've seen three movies: Proof, Transamerica, and Capote. All very good. Not the happiest set of movies, but excellent all the same. After Capote it said that Dan Futterman wrote and produced Capote. I was surprised. It was a great screenplay and a good movie. I didn't know Dan did that. Many people probably don't know who he is, but he's been in a bunch of stuff. You'd recognize him if you saw him. Philip Seymore Hoffman was amazing. Felicity Huffman was also fexcellent in Transamerica. I liked Transamerica, but I thought that the road trip concept and what happened along the way was really predictable and cliche. It was a good story and a lot of really good acting. For being such an unusual story, they sure picked a very overused way to tell it. The ending was good though.
Before the movies, there was a commercial for Pepsi with Jimmy Fallon and Parker Posey. It's awesome. So funny! I love Parker Posey so much. She's faboo. Did you know that she was dating Ryan Adams, and the album "Love is Hell" is about/derived from their breakup? They seem like an odd couple. Where has Parker been? I've missed her.
I'm also reading the book "Middlesex" by Jeffrey Eugenides which is amazing. I love it. It's called "Middlesex" partly because the main character is an intersexed person, and partly because the family lives on a street called Middlesex in Grosse Pointe. The name sounded familiar, and I think that Jessica's Dad lives at the corner of Middlesex and Windmill Pointe Drive (correct me if I'm wrong). I don't know if there are any other roads in the Grosse Pointes named Middlesex, but I find it interesting, that I've actually been on that road. In an interview Eugenides said he knew exactly where the house was...
Random Note: Hoobastank is the worst band name ever. On top of that, it sounds like the band would be slightly more metallic or hard core, but they're not. They come up with pansy stupid ballady songs. I thought "The Reason" was ok, but their new song blows.
Tomorrow I'm going to Jackie's house to watch Project Runway Finale with her and Beckie. I'm very excited. I think Santino will win. It will be great to see their lines though.
I've been thinking about what I want to do after graduation. I've been thinking about moving away for a while. Maybe working in DC for the government. I've also been considering working for the foreign service. I think it might be good to get away for a while. I don't really see anything here for me right now. There are a couple of friends that I would really miss, but other than those people, I have no reason to stay. And actually, two of my closest friends want to work for the FBI anyway, and might move away too. I guess I could work for the FBI, but I don't want to have a gun. I rejected moving away before, because I didn't want to run away from my problems here. However, it seems like I don't have anything holding me back, so I might as well have the government pay me to travel to exotic countries. Or I could live in DC and work for the government. Or move anywhere in the US. I haven't met anyone in law school to stick around for. Actually, now that I'm alone in Toledo most of the time, I can't wait for school to be over. If I have to be alone in my apartment, I'd rather do it in Romania or China.
