I Don't Want to Blog Football

Friday

I went to work as usual. My attorney approved my motion to suppress (mostly because she actually wrote most of it). I then made copies, took it to the clerk, and then served one copy to the prosecutor. I wanted to say "you got served" but I didn't. Instead Prosecutor-Secretary told me I did the motion format wrong. Whatever.

Court was normal. It was busy but not too bad. Actually, we didn't even get started until about 9:30 because people were scheduled to appear later. Oh, and the prosecutor in room 8 was awful! She was so condescending. At one point I gave her files of people who weren't there to bench warrant, and she said "What you don't seem to understand is that just because you have a case, doesn't mean it's on my docket." It was so condescending. True, I gave her files I didn't need to. But I didn't know they weren't on her docket. I'm new! However, one of them was on her docket, and I told her. She said it wasn't. I made her check. That's right. It was there. Now, bench warrant him you horrible woman. The colleague and I saw prosecutor Frank outside the building. I wish he was always our prosecutor.

The clerk on Friday told me when I went up to giver her something that her judge hates everyone and doesn't think anyone does a good job, but thought I was FABULOUS. That's right. I'm fabulous. Boo yah.

I tried to study on Friday but that failed. I did get some stuff done. Then I went to Ann Arbor for Jeff's b-day celebration. I got to AA slightly early so I went to Borders to hang out. I had to go to the bathroom and there were all these people upstairs standing around. So I went to the bathroom and there was this annoying guy fixing his suit in the bathroom. Well, I did my business and as I'm walking out someone started talking. I looked and it was Star Jones- Reynolds. I actually saw that deflated, scary woman in person. She was doing a book signing. I ran out as soon as I could and went to Beaners. Afterwards, I realized that the guy in the suit in the bathroom was her husband.

I met Jeff at Beaners. I got the organic, fair-trade coffee that is good for my soul. We started talking to these girls in the table next to us. They were super awesome and one wore a beret. Berets and Fringe in 2006! Eventually, Kathleen, Holly, Jessica, and Steve showed up. Then we went to the bar.

At the bar, DJ Mark had a table set up for Jeff with streamers and a sign. It was so sweet. Keevan brought a cake for Jeff and we sang happy birthday. It was awesome. It seems like everyone was there. Except Jason. The music was great. There was ample amounts of Pet Shop Boys. We stayed for a long time. There were many interesting characters. It was very fun, but I was exhausted by the end. There was this one scary girl with pierced clevage who I could not tolerate. She told me to "lighten up". Now I know how Beckie feels when guys tell her to smile. I wanted to punch that girl in the head. Afterwards we got pizza and I headed home. I was so exhausted on my way home. I was driving down my road and I passed a cop. I haven't been drinking but it was still scary. I was so tired I didn't want him to think I was driving weird because I was drunk. I got home and fell asleep.

Saturday, I did nothing. I thought there was supposed to be a blizzard. Maybe in Detroit but not in Toledo. I went grocery shopping. I got copies of my resumes. I rented videos. I watched Wimbledon which was what I expected. It wasn't bad. I loved the line "Love means nothing in tennis." Someone's been holding onto that line for 20 years I'm sure. What I don't understand still is how tennis is scored. It makes no sense. Anyone want to explain to me? Then I watched "Paycheck". I like Philip K. Dick and I liked "Minority Report" and "Blade Runner" so I thought I would like it. It wasn't bad. It wasn't what I expected either. Of course Dick's stories are modern fables like science fiction often is. This was also a fable. It just wasn't anything amazing. However it kept me interested, so that's ok.

Saturday and Sunday I spent the day writing cover letters and mailing resumes. I'm mailing over 100. I hope I get some response. I need a job this summer! Today I watched a movie called Partner(s) which was about this lawyer who pretended to be gay to become partner. It was so cliche and unrealistic. It was almost like an ABC Family movie. It wasn't bad, but not really good. At one point the gay best friend was telling the straight lawyer pretending to be gay about "gaydar" and "tops and bottoms". It was absurd.

Today I watched the Super Bowl. Actually, it was on while I did resumes. I watched the commercials and they were bad. I liked the one with the streaking sheep, but I don't even know what the commercial was for. I didn't see the game end. I really want to watch "Grey's Anatomy". They have good advertisement for it because I'm going to be staying up late to watch it now. I watched the half time show too, and I thought it was AWFUL. I thought Mick Jagger sounded really bad and he even sounded like he forgot the lyrics and made them up. Maybe not, but I still thought it was unimpressive. Of course, the Rolling Stones are in their 90s so I should be less critical.

Now it's time for Grey's Anatomy, some Gewurtztraminer and then bed time.
