I saw Fantastic Four by myself not to long ago at the new cinema in Toledo at Franklin Park Mall (or as it's now called Westfield at Franklin Park). I thought it was really good, but I know there was a lot of criticism of it. One said that there was no motivation for Dr. Doom to be evil. Did you even watch the movie? I thought the motivation was clear. The only thing that I had a problem with really was the storyline with the Thing. I thought it was not very believable what he did at the end. The dialogue was ok, but I cringed at the dialogue between Doom and Sue.
Doom: "Sue, let's not fight."
Sue: "No, let's."
"No, let's"? Is that all you've got? Is that the best you can come up with? Are you in 5th grade? I thought that was the dumbest line in the movie. I also thought that Sue was kind of annoying, but I think she's the biggest wienette in comic book history.
There was also the whole "do you know what happens when rubber freezes?" thing. I don't think that because Mr. Fantastic was stretchy really makes him rubber. It reminded me of the line from X-Men, "Do you know what happens when lightening strikes a toad? The same thing as everything else." Lame.
I have to say that Johnny was hot (pun intended). I'm glad they had him half naked through half of the movie. I also cried a little in the movie. Not because the plot moved me, but I just really like superheros, and it reminds me of my childhood. I did the same with Spider-man and X-men.
I saw "Girl, Interrupted" yesterday. It was really good. But it kind of made me want to be mentally ill. Is that normal? I don't think so. I think it was a general desire to belong, but in a mental hospital. Strange.
