My sister, Ashley, told me the other day that she works with a bunch of canadians. And she told me they call winter hats "tooks", pronounced with the oo's in spoon. Anyway, it was strange so I had to write aboot it.
I'm in Contracts. We have a sub today. We're talking about canning fish. Yum.
I hate the Super Bowl. I hate everything about it. I hate the commercials. They aren't even good anymore. They are stupid. I hate how people talked about Janet Jackson from last year so much, that the cheerleaders and Paul McCartney were required to wear burquas the whole show. At least it wasn't real hot outside.
I watched America's Funniest Videos for two minutes last night. They had Pinata fun gone awry. It was mostly parents getting hit, but there was this one where the kid was hitting the dog. Another where the pinata broke and the kids ran to get the candy, but the swinger didn't know so he started picking off kids. Pinatas are funny. Especially George Bush pre-election pinatas.
Valentine's Day is next monday. I hate Valentine's day. Not that I am jealous or anything. Because I can be jealous 365 days a year if I want. It's mostly just the fact that people pretend like it's romantic, but it's not. It's just a sham. A sham for guys to take out their wives instead of their mistresses. A sham for people to pretend to be happy, for one day more. A sham to buy stuff you really can't afford, allegedly out of love. People in good relationships know that Valentine's Day means nothing because they celebrate the sentiment year round. I think it's much more romantic to be spontaneous, than obliged because Hallmark said so.
Shrove Tuesday or Mardi Gras is tomorrow. That means that wednesday is Ash Wednesday or Mercredi des Cendres. I think Paczkis are weird. Last year there was a contest at work and someday ate like 10 and the year before, someone at 20. That's icky. Allegedly I've never really had a real paczki so that's why I don't like them. A lot of Paczkis are jelly donuts. I don't like jelly donuts too much. I would rather have a plain donut that is crispy on the outside. And I can get those any day.
I remember a story from elementary school about a guy with a donut machine, who made so many he got sick or something. I also remember that same guy met Rip Van Winkle and it was weird. Hmmm....
Ok, I just googled "donut machine and rip van winkle" and I found the book. It's called Homer Price. It's probably very juvenile. I also remember my teacher reading me a book about a Jabberwocky. I know the poem, but I don't remember the book. I remember it was scary. I wonder if there was a Bandersnatch in that too....
Ok, I couldn't find that one. I just remember about suction cups on his feet. And he was furry. Kind of like a big caterpillar. I can't remember if he was bad though. Strange memories.
I watched "Before Sunrise" last night. It was kind of slow, but good. I liked it. The girl in it was Zoe from "Killing Zoe". I never saw it, but I want to. Maybe I'll rent it sometime. I think it's supposed to be a cult classic like "The Land Before Time IV" and "Top Gun" and stuff. Must watch all of the OC first. Then probably Wonderfalls Season 1, then Coupling Season 4, then Freeks and Geaks. I'll probably watch F&G before Coupling, since Coupling tends to be funny, but ultimately a letdown. Do they have Everwood on DVD? Yes they do! I will watch that also! I love Everwood! Do you like my train of though blogging? Are you jealous?
I wish I had an arch-enemy, but only if I could win at the end of every episode. It seems like I'm losing right now. Must remedy that situation before getting an arch-enemy.
Have I said too much? There is nothing more I can think of to say to you. But all you have to do is look at me to know that every word is true.

Yay for Wonderfalls. I watch 5 episodes this weekend and was reminded again of how good it was, and how good it could have been.
BTW, the proper spelling of "tooks" is toques. It's weird, but if you look for Strange Brew references it's in there.
I remember that Golden Books put out a book version of the Disney movie Alice in Wonderland. There was a picture of the Jabberwocky in the book and it scared me because (a), it wasn't in the movie, and (b) it didn't look at all like the Jabberwocky drawing in the actual book by Lewis Carroll, and that one scared me too so I thought there might be more than one and it made me nervous.

The only donut with jelly in it that shouldn't be banned was this "donut-of-the-month" at Krispy Kreme that was a glazed donut with white frosting and key lime filling. It was heavenly. Then again, what at Krispy Kreme isn't?
You just have to take Valentines Day for what it is -- yes it is a day for businesses to make money, but it's also a day for girls. Spontaneity is nice but many boys don't understand it. I think most people get too caught up in life to celebrate their love often. It forces boys to make girls feel special one day a year, not a ton to ask of the sex. It's like your birthday. We love you all year round, you don't need us to buy you a great gift to prove that. But it is what it is - a day for you and god damn it - bring on the presents.
