I guess this is an appropriate day as any to start a new blog. The question still remains will this be a joke? I want to keep a journal but I'm afraid that I'll lose interest and will stop writing. Of course, I'll never stop writing since it's my life-blood, my aether, it's everything that I hold sacred. I just may stop writing here. If I stop writing, I apologize in advance. I have a really small attention span and that does not bode well for the survival of a blog. Alot of changes have taken place in my life so maybe I'll will be able to keep this blog alive. Heaven knows that I couldn't do the same for a plant, puppy or (heaven forbid!) a child.
Now it's time for the history lesson: Prior to 1582 the New Year was celebrated on March 25 for 8 days until April first (on our calendar). The New Year was changed in 1582 to January 1 as it has been ever since. Well, because of the lack of communication or due to mistrust, peasants in the countryside continued to celebrate the previous New Year. To the educated and city folk, these peasants became known as "April Fools". They would play tricks on and mock the peasants for their ignorance. This was the birth of the tradition known as "April Fools' Day".
