I was just reading about PS3 and XBox 360. And Nintendo Revolution. I guess XBox comes out this November, for the holiday season. PS3 comes out in March 2006 or later. They both sound pretty cool, and they both have a/v hookups to HD TVs. However, PS3 has a Blu-ray DVD reader. Then I was shocked to learn that they will cost around $400 when the first come out. FOUR HUNDRED DOLLARS. And Sony says they probably will lose money for the first couple years. At FOUR HUNDRED DOLLARS. At least they aren't gouging prices. But still. I can not imagine my parents buying me a $400 video game system for christmas when I was younger. I bet Jay's cousins will get 3 a piece (1 as a backup and 1 for their summer house in the hamptons) because Jay's cousins get everything. It's just insane. You can't do anything else on it, except watch DVDs. Also, I don't know of anyone with an HD TV. Do you? Maybe people will get them, just so they can play their videogames in HD.
Then there is Nintendo Revolution who no one expects to sell anything, but they don't know what it will do either. It won't have HD though. I think Nintendo is considered a little too "juvenile". PS and XBox can sell because it's respectable for grownups, but not as much for Nintendo. I'm not knocking Nintendo though, because I tend to like it better and some of the games are really fun, but I think it appeals to a different audience. Part of the problem with Nintendo is there is too much Mario. Mario games were fun enough, but I'm tired of him and his stereotypes of Italians. Fire Mario. Anyway, I hope the Revolution is way cool and A LOT cheaper than FOUR HUNDRED DOLLARS.
Oh, but then there could be serious competition from the VSmile and Leapster systems. NOT! Who buys those things? I bet it's the Christians who make their children play Bible games like "Exodus 2: Back to Egypt" or "Sister Act 3: Still in the Habit" or "Sims: Intelligent Design" I really like the "Sims: Intelligent Design" because you can make the world yourself and randomly populate the earth with different species and different amounts of time. I like it when you make the Dinosaurs eat Darwin. It rocks. I bet the children who watch Veggie Tales play with VSmile. It's creepy.
I like videogames. I play videogames...sometimes. But I cannot believe that people spend that much on them. And I know people who will. I know several people who will, and that's cool. I just think it's really expensive. It seem like it would be better to spend a lot more on a computer, so you can get all the functions of a console, computer and everything in one. But of course this is coming from a person who the last Video Game Console purchased was the original NES.
Wow. This post wasn't supposed to be about video games. Well, I'll just post it and write something else in a little bit.

Um, I have an HDTV, but other than Over-the-Air programs, I don't have any other HD sources. Cool. Actually I have the same TV as John. So he has HDTV also. And so many new TVs are HD-ready...
Oh. I guess HDTV is more popular. So Video Games in HDTV would be better. That makes sense. Maybe everyone but me has HDTV except me, who plays video games on my NES, on a black and white tv, with rabbit ears, and no remote, and a dial with 13 numbers, sans 1.
