Searching for Search Engines

Today, I was bored, so I thought it would be funny if I searched for "search engines" in Google and saw what came up. What was funny was that lycos, altavista, and yahoo were all first, but google was fifth. I thought it was funny that google was fifth on it's own site. But then I remembered that google ranks by popular sites so now I don't understand why google is there at all. I mean, how many people go to google, and search for search engines and then pick google. Why not just search while you're in google anyway. Very weird.
