First Day

Today was my first day of class. Blah. It really wasn't too bad though.

I have 4 classes and all are on Monday and Wednesday. They are Federal Income Tax, Estate and Gift Tax, Family Law, and Evidence. It turns out that the Bookstore ordered the wrong casebook for Estate and Gift Tax. Instead of the Professor having the bookstore order the correct ones, we are just going to use the Code and not the casebooks. Yes!

Also, we read a case in Family Law about a custody dispute between a lesbian couple. It was from the California Court of Appeals. It was about a woman who donated eggs that were conceived inside her partner. 5 years after their twins were born, they split up but the woman who carried the children wanted sole custody. We had a long discussion about the case. Then at the end of class one of the students said that the California Supreme Court overturned the case just before class. It was very amusing and an odd coincidence.

I found out today that I have an Externship with Judge Arlene Singer of the 6th District Court of Appeals for Ohio. I have a meeting with at the Court at 9am tomorrow. I'm very excited.

I am so much busier now that school has started. My calender is so filled. I went from doing nothing to being very busy. I love it. I've missed being busy.

I think this weekend I have to start working on sending my resume and cover letters. Blah. Law school is a lot of work.

Well, I'm going to read "High Fidelity" and then go to bed. 4 classes is very tiring.

Congratulations on working for the judge. It looks really good on your resume to work in the judiciary.
