Here are my guesses for the big categories. I am probably wrong.
Best Picture
# THE AVIATOR (Miramax)
# FINDING NEVERLAND (Miramax)
# MILLION DOLLAR BABY (Warner Bros.)
# RAY (Universal Pictures)
# SIDEWAYS (Fox Searchlight)
I think that The Aviator will win for best picture. I think that the film industry is drawn to it's own. All of the films here are strong contenders, but I think that because both Scorsese and DiCaprio have been overlooked in the past, the Academy is likely to pick this film. Sadly, I've only seen Sideways in this category.
Achievement in Directing
# Martin Scorsese for THE AVIATOR (Miramax)
# Clint Eastwood for MILLION DOLLAR BABY (Warner Bros.)
# Taylor Hackford for RAY (Universal Pictures)
# Alexander Payne for SIDEWAYS (Fox Searchlight)
# Mike Leigh for VERA DRAKE (Fine Line Features)
I think that since Scorsese is a legend, and has been overlooked in this past this is the film that will bring home the Oscar. Eastwood has won too much. Mike Leigh won't win. I think that the Academy will reward Scorsese for all his hard work.
Best Actor in a Leading Role
# Don Cheadle for HOTEL RWANDA (United Artists)
# Johnny Depp for FINDING NEVERLAND (Miramax)
# Leonardo DiCaprio for THE AVIATOR (Miramax)
# Clint Eastwood for MILLION DOLLAR BABY (Warner Bros.)
# Jamie Foxx for RAY (Universal Pictures)
Since Dicaprio got overlooked even for a nomination for Titanic, the academy may want to compensate him for his wait. But maybe not. I think that Foxx is the strongest contender in this category.
Best Supporting Actor
# Alan Alda for THE AVIATOR (Miramax)
# Thomas Haden Church for SIDEWAYS (Fox Searchlight)
# Jamie Foxx for COLLATERAL (Dreamworks SKG)
# Morgan Freeman for MILLION DOLLAR BABY (Warner Bros.)
# Clive Owen for CLOSER (Columbia Pictures)
I'm fairly torn on this one. I think that Morgan Freeman or Jamie Foxx are the strongest contenders for this category.
Best Actress in a Leading Role
# Annette Bening - BEING JULIA (Sony Pictures Classics)
# Catalina Sandino Moreno - MARIA FULL OF GRACE (Fine Line Features)
# Imelda Staunton - VERA DRAKE (Fine Line Features)
# Hilary Swank for MILLION DOLLAR BABY (Warner Bros.)
# Kate Winslet for ETERNAL SUNSHINE OF THE SPOTLESS MIND (Focus Features)
Bening and Swank are against each other for best actress again. Perhaps Bening will win this time, since Swank won last time? Who knows? I think that Bening or Swank has the best chance.
Best Supporting Actress
# Cate Blanchett for THE AVIATOR (Miramax)
# Laura Linney - KINSEY (Fox Searchlight Pictures)
# Virginia Madsen for SIDEWAYS (Fox Searchlight)
# Sophie Okonedo - HOTEL RWANDA (United Artists)
# Natalie Portman for CLOSER (Columbia Pictures)
Personally I think that Portman deserves to win this for her excellent role in closer. Blanchett and Linney are strong, but Portman should win.
Best Original Screenplay
# THE AVIATOR (Miramax)
# ETERNAL SUNSHINE OF THE SPOTLESS MIND (Focus Features)
# HOTEL RWANDA (United Artists)
# THE INCREDIBLES (Disney/Pixar)
# VERA DRAKE (Fine Line Features)
I don't know about this. I think that The Incredibles will lose. My vote is for Eternal Sunshine.
Best Adapted Screenplay
# BEFORE SUNSET (Warner Independent Pictures)
# FINDING NEVERLAND (Miramax)
# MILLION DOLLAR BABY (Warner Bros.)
# THE MOTORCYCLE DIARIES (Focus Features)
# SIDEWAYS (Fox Searchlight)
I think that Sideways will win for this. At least it should win one award.
Best Foreign-Language Film
# AS IT IS IN HEAVEN - Sweden
# THE CHORUS - France
# DOWNFALL - Germany
# THE SEA INSIDE - Spain
# YESTERDAY - South Africa
I haven't seen any of these! Law school takes too much time. Anyway, I vote for The Sea Inside.
Best Animated Feature Film
# THE INCREDIBLES (Disney/Pixar)
# SHARK TALE (Dreamworks SKG)
# SHREK 2 (Dreamworks SKG)
Shrek 2 will win. It's been foretold for ages.

I really think Thomas Haden Church should be rewarded for all his great work on um, Wings and um... Ned and Stacy.
I think Jared Leto should win.
The Colleague
I think you are in Property I ma'am and you should not be commenting on blogs. Pay attention or Kennedy will call on you.
Remember the finder has better title than everyone but the true owner. The power is yours!
Wait, you can go on the internet during class?
Crazy.
I think the Incredibles will win best animated. Shrek 2 was good, but the Incredibles was neatotastical.
A blog-oriented lecture is the best kind I think. I will have you know that I learned my “pay attention in property” lesson last week!! So this week I tried to make a lot of eye contact with the prof to show that I was one with his lecture.
And apparently the owner has true title over the finder - unless the finder sells the property to someone else, who innocently paid for it and then the purchaser gets some sort of property right… or something? Alright, I’ll stop getting lost in the Kennedy’s eyes and pay more attention to the content of the course…..
And yes, the building is wireless.... Wireless = The Devil.
