Yesterday, I went and talked to my boss and explained some concerns that I had regarding my performance and the performance of others. I discussed how I felt that my statistics do not consider my french calls, french voicemails, and the fact that the phones are set up so I get french before english. She said that she understood and said she wasn't concerned about my performance at all.
I then proceeded to tell her that there are recent issues because the calls are not being taken by several team members. I told her that the calls are getting "bounced" around the center and I'm tired of taking calls that people don't want because they know what type of call this is. She explained she tried to address it several times, with the center and with individuals. She said that she hears moral is low from "micromanagement" but then people pull stuff like this. She said EDS pays a fair wage for the work being done. Then she got this look of "oh, f*ck" on her face, because I started.
I discussed how I haven't gotten a promotional raise in two years and there are people getting paid 25% more than me. I thought this is unfair since I assume some of the people started before me, and so they are making more and doing less. I said that this was not fair at all. She said that she understood and that I got about $1000 last year (3.5%) and this is at a time when only 1% to 2% of EDS Corporate got raises. She also said that when I got hired it was either that I would get a raise or that the whole team would not get raises as per our organization's mandate. She conformed with the mandate to reward the majority of the team, opposed to just new hires. I understand this. My solution is that she should fire the guy who only takes 5 calls a day, and then distribute his salary to the other 5 of us who didn't get raises and we'll take an extra call per day.
I don't know if I totally believe her and these statistics, but at least I talked to her about it. Things are going down and I'm setting myself up well, to not do too much for the rest of my employmeet here.
