Troy - A Review
Troy resembled closely the Illiad of Homer but was translated well into a movie. I though that the acting was excellent and the constumes were good also. The movie was really two different stories. The first was how Achilles lost his anger. Achilles for being a great hero was a big jerk, and I'm glad that they showed that in the movie. The second is a critique of war. Unlike what is expected of the movie, it doesn't glorify war at all. It shows how no one wins in a war and there are more important things in life than pride and greed. One major difference between the book and the movie, is that there were no gods or goddesses (except for Themis, Achilles mother). I also don't remember Achilles dying at the end of the Illiad, but I'm not sure. I know that he does die, but I just don't remember if it was in the Illiad. I did find it interesting thought that there was no discussion that his heel was his weakness in the movie. Over all I think that the movie followed the main themes of the book and worked extremely well. I recommend it.
